On Thursday, Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah stated that 150 reverse osmosis water filter plants in five talukas of the Tharparker District have been installed by the Sindh Government.

He went on to tell that “The largest reverse osmosis (RO) plant of Asia having capacity to filter two million gallons per day will be inaugurated by former president Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday”. This statement was made at the CM House whilst presiding over a meeting.


The chief minister disclosed that the scheme for the Reverse Osmosis plants was worth PKR 5 billion and a total of 750 RO Plants have been completely installed. It was aimed at solving the basic problem of providing drinking water to the people in Tharparker District.

The water filter plant has been installed near Mithi and it is deemed to be the largest plant in Asia. It has been installed by the Sindh Coal Development Authority.

As reported by The Express Tribune, the meeting at the CM House was regarding the health and relief activities taking place in Thar. It was attended by Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Principal Secretary Alamuddin Bullo, ACS Development Mohammad Waseem, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput, Secretary Food Saeed Awan and other senior officers.
