Matches held in Karachi witnessed diminished crowd attendance, resulting in a 17% overall decrease in ticket sales and an estimated loss of approximately 100 million rupees.
Moreover, the escalation of the dollar rate led to a surge in player salaries, putting additional strain on team budgets.
Franchises had advocated for a change in the PSL 9 schedule, to begin in Karachi and conclude in Lahore, but this request was denied, further exacerbating potential losses.
In response to these challenges, adjustments have been made for the upcoming 10th edition of PSL. Only five matches are slated to be held at the National Stadium, Karachi, in a bid to optimize revenue generation.

While the central income pool is projected to exceed 7 billion rupees, expenses such as player salaries, accommodation, and travel could range from 55 to 60 million rupees for each team.
Each franchise is expected to receive over 98 crore rupees, however, several franchises are susceptible to losses, particularly considering the hefty franchise fees.
Multan Sultans face the prospect of significant losses, with fees surpassing one billion rupees, while Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings are also poised to navigate financial challenges. In contrast, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, and Peshawar Zalmi are positioned to capitalize on the situation and potentially reap benefits.
As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) awaits outstanding payments from stakeholders, the impending PSL governing council meeting, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, holds significance.
During this meeting, crucial decisions will be made to address financial concerns and chart the course for the future of PSL franchises.
