The Punjab government is transforming public transport with 102 electric buses in Rawalpindi. Covering an 84km route across 10 major public transport pathways, these buses aim to reduce pollution and improve air quality. Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan announced that the service will begin next year, offering international-standard facilities for commuters. The provincial government has allocated Rs4.7 billion for the initiative, with Rs200 million reserved for initial development.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved expanding the fleet to 200 buses. Supported by a China-Pakistan agreement during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifโs visit, the project will include modern terminals at Chohar Chowk and Adamji Road, accommodating up to 100 buses. Additionally, 40 electric chargers will ensure uninterrupted service for the eco-friendly fleet. This initiative highlights a step toward sustainable urban transport in Pakistan.
