Popular Pakistani television personality, Hina Bayat Khan, has recently claimed Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s popular show Satyamev Jayate closely mirrors the format of a program she hosted earlier. Bayat made this claim while appearing on a talk show hosted by Ushna Shah, where she highlighted the similarities between Khan’s show and her own.
Pioneering a Bold Approach to TV
Hina Bayat’s work as a TV host has seen her take bold steps in focusing on issues most Pakistani media tends to shy away from. Her programmes, which often focused on sensitive topics, highlighted the ills of society and aired the voices of the marginalised community, thus giving them respect and recognition.
Allegations of Copying the Show Format
During her conversation with Ushna Shah, Bayat revealed that the structure and design of Satyamev Jayate looked very similar to her earlier programme. She said that both shows’ set, format, and concept were almost the same. “I was taken aback when I saw Satyamev Jayate. The similarities were hard to ignore,” said Bayat.

Reflecting on Her Impact Despite the Allegations
Although the similarities took Bayat by shock, she was grateful for the platform she was given to address crucial issues. “I feel privileged to have been able to raise awareness about important matters through my show. The opportunity to do so was truly special,” she shared.

Discussions on Intellectual Property
Bayat didn’t mention anything about taking any legal action. However, her remarks have already caused a lot of debate in the entertainment industry over the ethics of copying show formats. It questions the amount of credit to be given for original ideas and the importance of protecting creative content.
The Legacy of Satyamev Jayate and its Influence
Satyamev Jayate, a show hosted by Aamir Khan, ran from 2012 to 2014 and became one of the most inspiring television shows in India. The programme was based on real-life social issues and received widespread appreciation for its honest approach. However, Bayat’s comments now raise questions about how ideas from different countries may influence one another.
