Fever, dry cough, and fatigue are the most common symptoms of coronavirus. Other symptoms are aches, sore throat, headache, rash, and loss of smell and taste. Recently, three new signs have been added to the list. According to experts, runny nose vomits, and diarrhea is also COVID-19 symptoms.
How to take care of yourself at home?
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should isolate yourself at home. Here are some steps you can take to prevent the spread of the disease and protect your family.
1. Get a separate room
Firstly, you should make sure to have proper rest. Since you’ll be isolating yourself from your family, perhaps you would want to get something to watch on Netflix. You must stay in a separate room and use a separate bathroom. Don’t allow visitors inside at all.
If one of your family members comes into the room, make sure the window is open or the fan or AC is switched on. This will let the airflow properly. Maintain 6 feet distance with family members and wear a face mask. If you can’t wear a mask due to respiratory problems, make others wear them.
2. Drink Fluids
Make sure you have water in a separate bottle inside your room so that you can drink plenty of water. Lemon juice is a good option. Keep your utensils separate.
3. No Sharing
You must not only keep your utensils separate but every personal item, including towels, bedding, etc. Mobile phone often carries the most amount of germs, so don’t use anyone else’s and does not give yours to someone else. Also, if you are a homemaker, then you should not prepare food for the family.
4. Take paracetamol or ibuprofen
Take medicine to cure your fever. In the case of kids, do not give take them without a doctor’s prescription.
5. Wash hands often
You must wash your hands as often as you can. It will help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
How long do you have to stay isolated?
You must stay isolated until:
- Seventy-two hours after the fever is gone.
- You don’t have a cough anymore.
- Ten days after the 1st symptom appeared.Â
When should I go to the doctor?
You should visit the hospital when you have one of these symptoms:
- Difficulty breathing
- Pain in chest
- Bluish lips
