Freelance is taking over the world, people having a day to day office job also have something going on the side in the form of freelancing in order to earn a few extra bucks. The influx of smartphones, laptops partnered with fast internet access have led to the rapidly growing industry of freelancers.
Finally, the trend has caught up to Pakistan and the Board of Directors of Ignite – National Technology Fund (National ICT R&D Fund) has provided an approval for ‘DigiSkills’. The program will train one million Pakistani youth to promote excellence in technology, innovation, and work ethics.
The decision was taken in the presence of Mrs.Anusha Rahman, State Minister for IT and Telecom and the CEO Ignite Mr. Yusuf Hussain.
The minister revealed that there are 20,000 IT graduates this year and that it would be beneficial for the country if the workforce is prepared to work in the upcoming tech industry. The growing industry promises a high demand of freelancing and entrepreneurship.
The National Incubation Center Islamabad completed the 1st Cohort that comprised of 21 startups. Out of the 21, two start-ups were ranked amongst the Top 10 startups of 4YFN in Barcelona.
The second batch of 26 startups started on the 15th September 2017 that will graduate by February 2018.
