Indus Motor Company (IMC) is planning on launching a new variant of the Toyota Fortuner in Pakistan. The variant is expected to be launched towards the end of February.
The Diesel Fortuner is a popular model abroad, and has been doing really well globally. The company has also tested the variant on the streets in Pakistan to ensure that the ride delivers the best to its driver and the passengers as well.
Although there is not much information available yet about the engine capacity, a source has said that the company is most likely to offer a 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine in the upcoming Toyota Fortuner, not the 1KD-FTV 3.0L engine, which was earlier rumored.
Toyota initially introduced the GD series back in 2015. According to PakWheels, the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine has less compression ratio than 1KD-FTV 3.0L engine it has a compression ratio of 15.6 and has a horsepower of 175@3400 rpm.
Sources have further stated that the Toyota Diesel Fortuner can be possibly equipped with a push-start button, keyless entry, and power back door.
The estimated price of the car is estimated to be at PKRÂ 5.8 to 6 million.
That’s not all, the word on the street is the company is planning to make changes to the current Fortuner model as well. IMC is deciding to make it a 2*4 vehicle instead of a 4*4, and increase its price by around 150,000 lac; currently, it is priced at PKR 5.4 mn.
Considering how Pakistanis are loving the concept of 4*4 vehicles, this is a good opportunity for Toyota to gain popularity in the market, not to forget the Fortuner is a popular variant for rally races which are quite in nowadays.
