Buying a phone, especially a smartphone is no easy decision! Buyers always want more for what they are paying, and why wouldn’t they, after all, its what the moolah is for!
We got a hold of the Nokia 8, and wanted to see if the high-end flagship is actually worth the price-tag here’s what we have to say about it!
Design & Looks
Hands down, HMD Global has indeed made the Nokia 8 beautiful, the body is quite attractive to the eyes.
It is equipped a 5.3-inch screen with IPS display and seamless unibody is precision milled from a single block of 6000 series aluminum undergoing a 40-stage process of machining, anodizing and polishing.
Its light in hand, easy to carry around, fits just about anywhere and is available in Tempered Blue, Polished Blue, Steel, and Polished Copper.
Nokia 8 Specifications
Let’s get to the specifications, starting off the Nokia 8 boasts an Octa-Core Kryo processor (4 x 2.5 GHz and 4 X 1.8 GHz) and is powered by a Snapdragon 385 chipset, which means the handset is powerful.
It also has 2 variants for users to pick from, a 4GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage set and a 6GB RAM with 128 GB internal storage set. You can use a single SIM (Nano-SIM) or hybrid dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) in place of an SD card.
That’s not all, the set is splash proof (IP54 certified) and has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection for your display. It’s impressive how the company managed to compress high pixel density, sharp, crisp and bright QHD display into just 5.3 inches.
It also has a dual 13-MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, which we will come back to later on.
Performance & Battery
Performance wise the smartphone is fast, it did not trouble us even when we operated 2 application at the same time. The transition from one application to another is also smooth. WHereas the battery, which is a non-removable Li-Ion 3090 mAh battery is also good enough, however, 4000mAh would have been more suitable for longer usage.
Nokia 8’s Camera
Now here’s where it got interesting, the phone is equipped with the dual 13-MP camera, it also has several other features including phase detection & laser autofocus, Carl Zeiss optics, OIS, dual-LED dual-tone flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, and panorama too!
Both cameras operate differently to capture different pictures. One captures color and the other captures the details and then both are combined to theoretically give us a very detailed picture.
The most interesting feature which makes the Nokia 8 standout is its ‘Bothie’. It’s time to ditch the selfie and go all Bothie! The ability to capture two images using the front and back camera at once is an out-of-the-box concept the company has gone for.
Final Verdict on Nokia 8
Being just a little over its price tag, the Nokia 8 has numerous features to offer.
It’s classy, has a gorgeous all-metal design, sharp display, excellent battery life, and above all it offers an amazing dual-sight camera that you can most often rely on!
And if you are looking for all these amazing features in your next phone, then this will be an investment you won’t regret.
With all this on offer in the new Nokia 8, we just cannot wait to see what HMD Global will be bringing in next for us!
