Pakistan is all set to witness the opening of the first-ever transgender educational and vocational institution in Lahore.
Named ‘The Gender Guardian’, it has been built by an NGO ‘Exploring Future Foundation’ and will start operations from 15th April 2018. The school will offer the transgender community to learn the basic skills that are required by the workforce today.
Students of this school will be provided with full 12 years of academic education, covering primary level to matriculation – eventually leading to college.
Founded by Asif Shahzad and the Exploring Future Foundation, Shahzad told Dawn News that the school has employed 15 faculty members initially. Adding to that, he said that two other branches are expected to open in Karachi and Islamabad in the upcoming days.
So far 40 students have taken admission at the school. According to reports, The Gender Guardian will also be providing technical courses, some of which include:
• Computer and mobile repair

• Beautician
The formal opening ceremony for the school will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in the Alhamra Hall in Lahore on April 15th. Several showbiz personalities will be seen gracing the event.
