There will be no more government subsidy for the Hajj pilgrims as per the new Hajj Policy 2019, approved by the Federal Cabinet on Thursday.
Hajj 2019 Pakistan Price Increases by over 60%
According to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, the Hajj package would now cost:
- PKR 4, 36,575 for Northern Region
- PKR 4, 26,575 for Southern regions
For pilgrims who want to avail Qurbani services, the costs will increase by Rs20,000 per category.
With Qurbani services, the package will now cost:
- PKR 456,975 for Nothern Region
- PKR 446,975Â for Southern Region
The government scheme will accommodate 107,000 people while more than 76,000 pilgrims will be accommodated through private schemes.
Also, 1.5 percent quota has been reserved to accommodate hardship case.
10,000 seats have been reserved for senior citizens to secure their berth in government Hajj scheme without balloting.
Around 184,210 Pakistani would perform Hajj this year.
The applications for Hajj will be received from February 20.
Imran Khan has directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to provide all the facilities to the intending pilgrims who desire to perform Hajj through Government Hajj Scheme.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would start from Quetta and Faisalabad. This would be the first time in the history that pilgrims of Baluchistan would be airlifted directly from Quetta.
