It has officially been made compulsory to wear a helmet for anyone riding a motorcycle in Karachi, thanks to Karachi Additional IG Ameer Sheikh who has directed the police to commence a helmet awareness campaign in Karachi from July 1st, 2019.
The campaign is called Helmet Nahi To Kuch Nahi.

The IG in charge of the campaign has instructed people to purchase helmets if they don’t own any, saying that special camps will be arranged for such people so that they can buy helmets at a cheaper rate.
“It will be prohibited to ride a motorcycle on Sharae Faisal without a helmet,”
The traffic police have impounded a total of 16,014 motorcycles, and fined 25,531 people a collective Rs3.8 million in just the past two days.
Mayor Wasim Akhtar and Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani also made an appeal to motorbike riders and warned them to comply, as they will also be a part of the campaign.
