Pakistani actor Armeena Rana Khan and her fiance have penned an open letter to the UNICEF, asking the international organization to take action against its Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra who has been accused of โ€œencouraging nuclear warโ€.

Taking to Twitter, Armeena shared her open letter to the UNICEF where sheย asked UNICEF’s Executive Director Henrietta H Fore for Priyanka’s removal as the global peace ambassador.

“With this in mind and the repeated stance of Mrs. Chopra-Jonas, we are sure that we echo the thoughts of many people in asking whether UNICEF endorses Mrs. Chopra-Jonas’ stance on patriotism? Do you think it is acceptable for you to work with partisan partners who support a war? May we invite UNICEF to distance itself from ambassadorships that are incongruent with your organizational values and culture,” Armeena penned in her letter.

“Mrs. Chopra-Jonas will be tarnished by her stance going forward, as will those associating themselves with her. Ultimately it is your responsibility, as Executive Director to act promptly in safeguarding the reputation of UNICEF,” she added.

โ€œIf you are not prepared to act upon our legitimate concerns then it will leave us with no option but to distance ourselves from UNICEF, encouraging our elected representatives and others to work toward the same,โ€ Armeena concluded the letter.

The controversy caught Priyanka while attending a BeautyCon event where she was criticized by a Pakistani fan, Ayesha Malik for supporting nuclear war with Pakistan while the UN was asking both nuclear-armed nations to remain peaceful.

โ€œAs a Pakistani, millions of people like me have supported you in your business of Bollywood and you wanted nuclear war,โ€ questioned Ayesha Malik.

“Whenever you’re done venting … got it, done? Okay, cool,” is the dismissive way the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador began her answer.

“War is not something I am really fond of, but I am patriotic,” she added.
