Facebook owned Instagram is testing Instagram Direct for Desktop.
Reportedly, the tech giant might be bringing this feature to the desktop version so that users can send and receives messages in their inbox.
This was first discovered by Jane Manchun Wong who shared screenshots of the upcoming feature on her Twitter.

One thing that you notice right away is that Instagram Direct on desktop resembles the Facebook Messenger for desktop.
Last week, Instagram also introduces Threads, a standalone messaging application for interacting with your closest friends on Instagram.
