Apart from 10 million things that I love about my country, one of them has to be the creativity and innovation all the renowned names bring to the table. Recently, the actor turned PR mogul, Frieha Altaf, shared on her Instagram the exciting news of a virtual fashion show.
This will be Pakistan’s first-ever virtual fashion show. So, gear up to watch it this weekend (June 5-7) on Harpal Geoย and Catwalk’s official YouTube and Facebook pages.
Former model and CEO of Catwalk Events, Frieha Altaf, came up with this innovative idea last month when she decided that it was high time to take the country’s fashion industry in a different direction. According to the PR mogul, Frieha, this way, the fashion industry would also pay tribute to doctors, nurses, and paramedics who are combating the pandemic.
Pakistan’s First-Ever Virtual Fashion Week To Happen This Weekend
“We were all prepared to proudly present Pakistan’s first-ever virtual fashion week when the tragic air-jet disaster occurred and left the whole nation shaken, I felt there was no alternative but to postpone the event to pay respect to all those passengers and crew who tragically lost their lives that day including one of the brightest and promising supermodels, Zara Abid,” Altaf told Samaa.ย
Furthermore, with Pakistan’s 20 ace designers, ‘Catwalk Cares’ will be showcasing about two to three outfits from each designer. The show will merge womenswear and menswear, following a recent trend for mixed shows from heavy-hitting brands including Burberry, Gucci, and Jacquemus.
Besides bringing in more online buyers and boosting sales, the show is dedicated to healthcare workers and those who are risking their lives to protect others amid the COVID-19 outbreak. They’re the real heroes today.
The first day of the show will feature designs from Amir Adnan, Huma Adnan, Khaadi, Maheen Karim, Nida Azwer and Shamaeel Ansari. In contrast, the remaining days will see Ali Xeeshan, Nomi Ansari, Asim Jofa, Sonya Battla, Sana Safinaz, Hussain Rehar, and Asadul Haq.
Moreover, the great news is that all designers will be donating an outfit or accessory each from their collection to the health care workers and those risking their lives to protect others amid the pandemic.
This is a great initiative, and I believe it’s about time Pakistanis find a shred of happiness in some entertainment while the virus is wreaking havoc on us.
