Students of Foundation for Advancement of Sciences and Technology (FAST) university are no longer proud of their degrees as the authorities take rigorous actions towards students who made fun of the institution on social media.
The university that has campuses in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Chiniot-Faisalabad in Pakistan has punished its students for posting memes in a private Facebook group.
The directives come straight from the disciplinary committee, who is punishing more than 20 students. The punishments include written apologies, community work, expulsion, 1-year expulsion,1-year grade down, and more.
Here is a Screenshot of Disciplinary Actions Notice CDC No. 05/20 circulating on social media:Â
Comedian Shehzad Ghias took it to his official Facebook page to express his concern regarding the matter:
What draconian world do we live in? FAST is expelling students for making memes about FAST.
Internet, please do your thing and make as many memes about FAST as you can.

Students are ashamed of their degree after FAST took such rigorous actions towards its students for light-hearted jokes.

A user on Twitter said, “You are toying with their (Students) future to soothe your egos!”
You can’t threaten students who have already graduated to cancel their degrees!
What is wrong with FAST! Dont’t reduce their grades! This is wrong on so many levels! You are toying with their futures to soothe your egos! You should be ashamed!#ShameOnFAST@fastuniversity_ pic.twitter.com/q3dJZLObHj

So how comes being humorous and sharing memes in a private group becomes a crime? FAST interfering in the private lives of the students and punishing them for only those trolls and memes. Where’s freedom of speech? #ShameOnFAST pic.twitter.com/1huoBd4YwZ

It is devastating to know that these students have been punished for something that could have been quickly resolved by giving warnings. Have something to add? Let us know in the comment section below.
