Sony has recently launched a portable air conditioner called the Reon Pocket, a thermal device that comes in a pocket-friendly size that can easily fit into your pocket/bags etc. The device is designed to be worn underneath a shirt in order to keep you cool during summers under the scorching sun.
With temperatures soaring high, the tech company has come up with a creative solution. If you are planning to put on a business outfit for a meeting or for a presentation on a hot day and you’re worried about how stuffy you will feel later, Reon pocket is here to save the day!
The Japanese company lives up to its expectations for coming out with products that are idyllic. We must give Sony an honourable mention here for producing devices that are out of the norm and quite handy!

You can wear this thermal device underneath your shirt
You can turn the device on or turn it off with the help of an app on your phone
The device can be controlled by apps available on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
The Reon pocket air conditioner is specially designed to bring down the body’s temperature in summers by 23 degrees Fahrenheit.
The device can also turn into a heater in cold weather. It holds the capability to raise the body’s temperature up to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.
The device uses the Peltier effect where an electric current is passed through the unit when the heat is absorbed.
Sony is known for producing out of the box items for its customers
The gadget is smartly designed so the user doesn’t feel hot air released from the venting fan on the device. Once fully charged, the pocket air conditioner can last up to 2 to 4 hours, however, Sony claims it will last up to 24 hours.
How much is the Reon Pocket Air Conditioner for?
The Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation had first unveiled the product in 2019. The product was planned to release with the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, the Olympics had to be cancelled.
The product is now available on several Japanese sites for $120. It is notable to mention that the shirt that holds the device is sold separately for another $20 on the official website.
People in Japan had already reserved the device previously so that they can receive the first batch in March 2020. At the moment, the device can only be controlled manually with the help of an app but with time, Sony will update the device to work on an automatic mode.
Currently only available in Japan, the device can become popular in Pakistan for its price point during the summers as half of the population can not afford an Air conditioner.
