The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is always looking to provide as many opportunities as they can to the Pakistani students. Now, these opportunities’ recipients can be regular students who can pay for their education, and they can also be looking for scholarships to fund their education. The options can range from what the local government offers to other countries’ governments offering to sponsor Pakistani candidates.

HEC Research Award 2021

This time around, the opportunity is for Pakistani researchers and scholars. It is called HEC Research Awards 2021, and it implores the candidates to submit the applications for it. The aim here is to ensure that when someone puts in the effort, it gets recognized. So if you want to be recognized, how about enlisting in the competition?

Another incentive to do so is the certificate and the cash prize aside from contributing to impactful publications.

Details of How To Apply

If this has convinced you to apply, well, you are right on time because the applications were to be accepted after 5th January 2021. You can apply through the e-portal of HEC. Remember, the applications will stay open until 1st February 2021. The time will be until 11:59 PM Pakistan Standard Time.

The submission can be in various disciplines; the domains, however, will be limited to 3. So, for instance, the domains are Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences. And within that, the disciplines can range from Arts and Humanities, Law, Education, and Public Policy to Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Biological Sciences, and even Agriculture. The recipients of the award will, of course, be judged according to the three domains mentioned above.

A little about the awards

The categories of awards are Best Researcher, Best Young Researcher, and Best Publication. The first two categories will be awarded PKR 500,000, while the third category will get PKR 1,000,000. It is important to note that all those who have been caught plagiarising researches and have been blacklisted by the HEC cannot apply.

Best Researcher award is sort of a lifetime award. The recipient must have contributed to the intellectual and social development through his/her words. Best Young Researcher Award, however, puts a limitation. It is awarded to candidates under 40. The candidate also has to show future potential in doing researches. The publication that has made a lasting impact on future research is the most eligible to win in this category.
