What Is An Erasmus Mundus Scholarship?
Erasmus Mundus is a renowned program funded by the European Commission, promoting international academic cooperation and intercultural understanding. It offers scholarships for students and academic staff, facilitating joint master’s and doctoral programs, research, and exchange opportunities. Emphasizing mobility, it enables students to study at multiple universities, fostering global networks and academic excellence.

A total of 2,835 students representing 143 countries have been granted scholarships funded by the European Union to pursue one of the 146 Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programs. Last year, 3,013 students from 133 countries were selected, with Pakistan ranking as the top recipient globally. In March of this year, the United States announced 500 new scholarships for university students from flood-affected districts in Pakistan, aiming to support their educational pursuits in the aftermath of devastating monsoon rains and flooding in 2022.
US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome, made this announcement during an event at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad, commemorating International Women’s Day and celebrating the achievements of female scholars.
