mohammad-amir-believes-babar-azam-can-break-records-as-batter

Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir opened up recently and shared his perspective on Babar Azam’s resignation from the captaincy across all formats, emphasizing that Azam has nothing to prove as a player.

During an appearance on a local TV show, Mohammad Amir urged Babar Azam to view this shift as a challenge, highlighting that as a player, his credentials speak volumes.

Discussing the situation, Amir drew a parallel with Virat Kohli, mentioning how Kohli discovered his removal from the captaincy via social media. But Virat Kohli took it as a challenge and today he is bearing fruits for his hard work.

Amir also commented on the appointment of Shan Masood as the new Test captain, expressing optimism about Masood’s potential, citing his exceptional domestic season as a promising sign for his captaincy tenure.

Joining the conversation, left-arm all-rounder Imad Wasim echoed support for Babar Azam’s decision, stating that stepping away from the captaincy will allow Azam to focus solely on his batting without the added burden of leadership responsibilities.

Imad emphasized the significant pressure associated with captaincy and welcomed Shaheen Afridi as the new T20I captain.

Notably, following Babar Azam’s resignation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) swiftly appointed Shan Masood as the new Test captain and named Shaheen Afridi to lead the team in T20Is.
