PCB has announced a ten-day training camp in collaboration with the Pakistan Army at the esteemed Kakul Military Academy, in a bid to enhance the fitness levels of national cricketers.
This initiative comes in response to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s expressed concerns regarding the current fitness standards of the team.
“We have New Zealand [series] coming up, then Ireland, England and the T20 World Cup. I wondered, ‘When will we train?’ but there was no time,” said Naqvi.
“However, we’ve found a window, where we’ve organised a camp in Kakul (military academy) from March 25 to April 8. The Pakistan Army will be involved in your training, and hopefully, they’ll help you out.”
Set to commence on 25th March and extend until 8th April, the training camp aims to address pressing fitness issues among players ahead of a crucial series as well as the impending T20 World Cup 2024.

The decision to conduct the camp during Ramadan, immediately following the conclusion of PSL 9, underscores the urgency and significance attached to elevating players’ fitness levels.
While the timing might appear challenging due to the fasting period, the PCB is resolute in its commitment to raising the fitness bar for national cricketers.
This isn’t the first time that Pakistani cricketers have undergone rigorous training at the Kakul Military Academy.
Previous instances have yielded fruitful results, with Pakistan ascending to the top of Test rankings under Misbah-ul-Haq following intensive military training sessions.
PCB Chairman Naqvi, cognizant of the demanding schedule and players’ limited recovery time, emphasizes the paramount importance of prioritizing national commitments over the allure of lucrative T20 leagues.
He implores players to rise to the occasion, elevate their performances, and strive for excellence in fitness and strength.
The collaborative effort between the PCB and the Pakistan Army signifies a holistic approach towards nurturing talent and fostering a culture of fitness and discipline within the national cricketing fraternity.
As the countdown begins for the upcoming series and tournaments, all eyes are on the transformative impact that the Kakul Military Academy training camp will have on Pakistan’s cricketing landscape.
