Pakistan all-rounder Aamir Jamal took a subtle dig at captain Babar Azam with a cryptic message on social media after being left out of the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Ireland and England.
In a post on Instagram, Jamal showcased his batting skills in the ongoing English County Championship, representing Warwickshire, where he notched up an impressive 40 runs in his first innings.
Alongside the video, he posted a caption shrouded in ambiguity: “Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance deceives many,” accompanied by a finger-on-mouth emoji.

This enigmatic post comes after Jamal’s exclusion from the Pakistan squad for the home series against New Zealand and the subsequent tours of Ireland and England leading up to the T20 World Cup 2024.
Despite being part of the squad during the New Zealand tour in January, Jamal’s recent performances were not enough to secure a spot in the T20I setup.
Addressing Jamal’s absence, Pakistan captain Babar Azam emphasized the distinction between Test and T20 cricket during a press briefing before the team’s departure to Ireland.
While acknowledging Jamal’s prowess in Test matches, Babar highlighted the need for Jamal to gain more experience and match exposure to refine his skills for the fast-paced T20 format.
“Aamir Jamal performed admirably in Test cricket, but Test performance cannot be directly compared to T20s,” Babar stated. “In T20 cricket, we require a genuine hitter in the position where Jamal bats. He needs more time and matches to further polish his game for the T20 format.”
Jamal’s cryptic message on social media has sparked speculation among fans and pundits alike, with many interpreting it as a subtle response to his exclusion from the T20I squad.
