Former cricket captain and ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan didnโ€™t hold back in criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi after the humiliating 10-wicket defeat to Bangladesh.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Khan voiced his frustration and concern over the teamโ€™s rapid decline, directly pointing fingers at the PCB and its chief, Mohsin Naqvi.

A Fall from Glory

Khan, who led Pakistan to its first-ever World Cup victory in 1992, is no stranger to the highs and lows of the sport. However, even he seems baffled by the teamโ€™s current state.

Just two and a half years ago, Pakistan delivered a historic 10-wicket victory over India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, a moment that sent the nation into jubilation.

But fast forward to 2024, and the same team is now struggling to find its footing, culminating in a crushing loss to Bangladesh.

In his message, Khan highlighted Pakistanโ€™s dismal performances in recent global tournaments, where the team failed to make it to the top four in the 2023 Cricket World Cup and didnโ€™t even crack the top eight in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The Blame Game

Imran Khan didnโ€™t mince words when it came to PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. He accused Naqvi of contributing to the teamโ€™s downfall, suggesting that leadership issues at the board level are trickling down to the players and affecting their performance on the field.

โ€œFor the first time, we (Pakistan) didnโ€™t make it to the top four in the World Cup or the top eight in T20. And yesterday, we faced an embarrassing defeat against Bangladesh, setting a new low. Just two-and-a-half years ago, this team had defeated India by 10 wickets. What has happened in these two-and-a-half years that we lost to Bangladesh by 10 wickets?” Khan wrote on X.

Adding to the woes, Pakistanโ€™s defeat to Bangladesh extended their winless streak in home Test matches to nine games. The last time Pakistan won a Test at home was back in February 2021 against South Africa.

Since then, the team has suffered a series of defeats, including losing to Australia, being whitewashed by England, and drawing a series against New Zealand, before hitting rock bottom with this recent loss to Bangladesh.
