Saba Hamid, a legendary figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry, has enjoyed a long and illustrious career spanning over four decades. Starting in 1981, Saba became a household name through her powerful performances and behind-the-scenes contributions. However, acting was never her first passion. In her childhood, Saba had dreams of becoming a pilot, drawn by her love for travel and the desire to fly. Even after stepping into the entertainment industry, she didn’t immediately embrace acting; her true passion lay in directing.
Saba Hamid on After Hours with Ushna Shah
Saba has recently interviewed the famous host of the TV show ‘After Hours’, Ushna Shah where she shares her experience with her struggling days of acting and the transition to becoming a director.
When asked when she ventured into the profession, Saba explained that she started her career in the early 1980s even though becoming a pilot was her dream. She further said that when she joined the acting world, her aim was still set on directing. ‘I’ve always wanted to direct,’ she continued, which underlined her predisposition towards the creative authority on set.
Directing Her First Play
Another significant landmark in the career of Saba Hamid was her transfer to the field of direction, which she achieved with her first play, Ghalti.

Supposing Ushna further said, “You never sat in the makeup room for comfort; you toiled hard and with all the sweat you used to direct things.” Saba agreed, saying she was focused and managed each project from start to finish.
