Bushra Ansari is a legendary figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry, known for her incredible versatility and longevity, which has spanned over four decades. From comedic roles in iconic television shows like Fifty Fifty to powerful dramatic performances in Udaari and Zebaish, Ansari has proven herself to be an actress with immense range. Her portrayals of stern mother-in-law characters have become iconic in Pakistani dramas, often leaving audiences both in awe and occasionally in fear.
Her decades of contributions have garnered her a devoted following and enormous esteem among her fans. However, Ansari recently spoke out about some of the difficulties that come with playing these tough characters, particularly while executing emotional scenes.
Tabish Hashmi’s Show
Bushra Ansari was appeared as a guest on Tabish Hashmi’s Live Show, where she was asked about the strict mother-in-law characters she often plays. As the conversation continued, one audience member humorously inquired, “How does one prepare for having a mother-in-law like the ones you portray?” The lighthearted question added a fun twist to the discussion.
When responding to one user who asked her about a particular scene where the actress’s character was rude to the lead co-star, Ansari said, “Listen, all of you have to handle such mother-in-law characters because you all like to see these kinds of characters only!” This question was aggressively answered, and that too conically, the entire audience burst into laughter.
On-Screen Slap Scenes
Bushra’s characters might be a bit tough on screen, the actress said that she has a problem with certain shots, especially slap scenes. For example, she said, introductions to the scenes that involved extra emotion and, particularly, scenes, which required slapping someone, were rather challenging for her.

This is especially the case when I often request different takes because I can’t physically assault anyone. I’m not that cruel. She told the hearing that such scenes are extremely demanding; the sound that accompanies the slap scenes and the angle in which they are shot gives the impression that the actress is genuinely being slapped by her partner. “I’m not perfect at it. The sound can make it real without me needing to really whack anyone,” she also had to offer a behind-the-scenes view on how such scenes are staged and filmed.
Bushra and Saba they both have been very close friends and used to spend much time together. In the discussion, Ansari also talked about friendship; she revealed that she has been friends with Saba Hamid for a long time. As for Saba she said, laughing, ‘Saba can slap anyone in the scene, you know!’ This (here referring to a light-hearted comment said by one of the actresses regarding the other) elicited laughter from the crowd and revealed the friendship between the two female leads.
