Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi made a surprise late-night visit to Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium to oversee the ongoing construction work as part of the preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Mohsin Naqvi is leaving no stone unturned to ensure stays on track for the Champions Trophy, which will be the first major ICC event in the country since World Cup 1996.
During his visit, Naqvi took a deep dive into every nook and cranny of the stadium—from the basement all the way up to the main enclosures. He conveyed the message to the workers that the stadium should be upgraded with perfection on time.

The stadium will be the stage for some of the most thrilling matches, including the grand final, and the chairman wants everything to be perfect for the big day.
Gaddafi Stadium: A Priority for PCB
The upgrades at Gaddafi Stadium are part of the PCB’s larger effort to make sure Pakistan’s venues are ready to host the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
Naqvi had a full-on briefing from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) project director, who gave him the lowdown on how things are progressing.
Naqvi expressed satisfaction with the updates so far but made it clear: deadlines are tight, and there’s no room for delay. Every corner of the stadium needs to be in top shape by the time the tournament kicks off.
Tournament Schedule
The Champions Trophy will be played across Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi, with Gaddafi Stadium hosting seven matches—including the much-anticipated final on March 9. Meanwhile, semi-finals are set for March 5 and 6 in Karachi and Rawalpindi.
