Pakistan’s ODI captain, Mohammad Rizwan shared a light-hearted moment with Australia’s leg-spinner, Adam Zampa, during the ongoing second ODI at Adelaide.
Amidst Pakistan’s dominant bowling performance, this unexpected, humorous interaction became an instant highlight, showcasing Rizwan’s cheeky, playful spirit.
A Playful Exchange Caught on Stump Mic
The situation unfolded in the 34th over with Australia struggling at 130-8. Pakistan’s bowling attack, led by Haris Rauf (5-29) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (3-26), had decimated Australia’s lineup.

With Zampa batting at the tail end, his goal was simply to hold on, adding small but crucial runs alongside Pat Cummins and later Josh Hazlewood.
During the 34th over, Zampa attempted to hook a Naseem Shah bouncer but missed, prompting the Pakistan fielders to go up in appeal. The umpire, however, was unmoved, giving it a not-out decision.
Rizwan, who was clearly intrigued, rushed up towards the batting crease to discuss whether to take a review. And here’s where the humor kicked in.
Rizwan Consults Zampa… for a Review?
After a quick huddle with his bowler, Rizwan did something truly unique: he decided to ask Zampa himself if he’d edged the ball.
He directly asked, “You heard something?” To which Zampa, with a hint of wit, replied, “You guys appeal for everything.” Not missing a beat, Rizwan then continued, almost as if he were asking for honest advice, “Can I take it (DRS) now?”

Zampa’s response? “Yeah, you should, you should take it,” he answered, playing along in the same spirit. Rizwan, taking Zampa’s “approval,” went ahead with the review. Yet, as the replays showed, the ball had passed far above the bat. No edge, no wicket. But it gave fans and players a hearty laugh.
Had the review worked in Rizwan’s favor, it would have marked his seventh catch of the innings—a world record in ODIs. Although he didn’t secure the record this time, Rizwan’s playful approach and camaraderie with Zampa left a memorable mark on the game.
