Areeba Habib’s Bold Shift from Modelling to Acting

Areeba Habib recently opened up about her journey in an interview with Ushna Shah on the After Hours show in the first week of November. Talking to the talented star, who first made it big as one of the top models, she spoke about switching from the runway to the small screen.

She revealed the challenges she experienced in her past and reasons for making such bold moves in abandoning a burgeoning career in modelling for acting.

From Modelling to Acting: How It All Started

Areeba Habib started as a model and worked with top designers like Deepak Perwani and Maheen Khan. She credited Frieha Altaf for bringing her into the modelling world, during the interview with Ushna Shah. “Frieha Altaf was the one who brought me into this industry.”

She then talked about switching from modelling to acting, attributing it to Salman Iqbal, the CEO of ARY Digital. Areeba’s first drama appearance was in ‘Koi Chaand Rakh’ opposite Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan, where she played a highly negative character. She says, “The role was hated by the audience, and I was subjected to a lot of abuse and criticism for it, but it was fun playing the negative character.” She has stated that she wants to keep going with such acting challenges in future as well.

Embracing a New Path in Acting

Areeba further said she has shifted her complete focus to acting. “Turning back into a model is no longer my aim,” she said. She further added that in the contemporary roles where she portrays characters of being a daughter-in-law or any other, people have loved to see her in those characters.

Recalling the reactions, she said, “If I were to turn into a model again, the public would comment on my dress and choices too just like they commented on negative roles.” Despite all these, Areeba received accolades for her drama Jalan, in which Minal Khan and Emmad Irfani were seen on-screen.

Areeba is a great example of how a well-entrenched model transitioned into an actress with unstoppable vigour reminds us of her willingness to take risks and adapt as she showed herself ready for any challenge that the entertainment industry could bring her way.
