Whatsapp has come up with yet another innovative and exciting feature! Which aims to make communication easier for its users. The latest edition of this Meta-owned app allows users to convert audio messages into readable texts. Whether you’re stuck in a noisy room, attending an equally important meeting, or simply unable to listen to the message, this feature allows you to read it instead.
How Does The New WhatsApp Function
This particular feature transcribes your voice messages directly on your device. WhatsApp emphasises that neither the audio nor the transcribed text is accessible to them or any other third party. Currently, the feature only supports popular languages such as Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

The feature is off by default but here is how you can turn it on:
- Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
- Tap on Chats and scroll down to the Voice Message Transcripts option.
- Turn it on and select your preferred language.
- Download the language package and click Set Up Now.
Once enabled, simply press on your received voice message and select transcribe out of the available options.
This feature stands out because the transcription process on your device ensures security. Moreover, it allows users to multitask without compromising their privacy. For example, if you’re in a crowded place or a setting where listening to the voice note isn’t possible. You can still catch up with your messages seamlessly.
This feature is set to roll out globally over the next few weeks. It aims to provide a more inclusive texting experience that improves the quality of communication. Along with this update, WhatsApp continues to be innovative, introducing new features like message drafts and reverse image searches. With updates like these, this app has secured its place as a leader in the communications industry.
