Javed Sheikh began his professional journey on Radio Pakistan, though he said no one in the industry gave him a head start. He shared how he was rejected eight times during the audition for the pronunciation of Urdu which he failed to pronounce perfectly. When he was 12 years old, he lived in Rawalpindi, and at that time, Sheikh dreamed of acting in films, but the financial constraints seemed to stretch this dream to extremes.

Determined to pursue his dream, Sheikh remembered an incident where he had stolen 100 rupees from his father to travel to Lahore with his friends. One day, when his father noticed the missing money, his instinct took him straight to the railway station. When he reached there, he spotted Javed in one of the compartments and pulled him home. Concerned about the company his son kept, the father of Javed decided to guide him to a better path.

From a Troubled Start to Acting Success

With this support from his father and a resolve to better himself, Javed changed his life altogether. Rejected in the beginning, he went on and landed up with radio dramas. When television became a rage, he sought acting opportunities, which marked the beginning of his career.
