Mike York, a former Rockstar developer, explained the reason behind the delay of GTA 6’s second trailer. York revealed that Rockstar uses secrecy as a marketing tactic. “Rockstar is very secretive about what they do. This creates allure, mystery, and gets people talking without them doing anything,” York said. ”Of course, Rockstar can easily reveal the date of the trailer, but it does not do it on purpose,” he added.

The first GTA 6 trailer dropped on December 4, 2023. The trailer showed the game’s setting in a fictional Vice City, inspired by Miami and introduced the first playable female character in the series. Despite rumours of a delay, Take-Two Interactive confirmed the game is on track for its scheduled launch.
