Family’s Response
The family’s lawyer, Sara Azari revealed in a statement to PEOPLE how relieved Hannah’s sister, Sydni Kobayashi, and mother, Brandi Yee, are.
“This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family,” they said. “We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Hannah has been found safe. We kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through.”
“Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us,” they added.
Authorities in the Dark
Despite the happy news, details about how or where Hannah was found are still undisclosed. Lt. Doug Oldfield of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit confirmed that attorney Azari had informed them of Hannah’s safety.
“We have not seen her, and at this point, we have no reason to compel her to see us,” Oldfield said. “It’s a big news story, so she may decide to come with a lawyer, but she is not obligated to speak to us. We’ll see what happens next.”
