Pakistan and the UAE engaged in a high-level diplomatic meeting to address concerns over visa issuance for Pakistani nationals. The ambassador stated, โThese steps will cut the delays and expedite the visa processing.โ This assurance followed reports of delays and rejections in visa issuance, which Islamabad previously denied as unfounded. The Foreign Office emphasised that granting visas is the right of the UAE.

While the meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and visa issues, the FO did not clarify if discussions extend to Pakistanis imprisoned in the UAE. Earlier, media briefings raised concerns about 5,000 jailed Pakistanis allegedly involved in illegal activities, but the FO spokeswoman stated, “I cannot confirm the figures.” Additionally, UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott met with Ishaq Dar to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, reaffirming commitments to strengthen ties.
