The sale coincides with renewed interest in The Wizard of Oz due to the release of the prequel Wicked. Garland, just 16 when she portrayed Dorothy, became a Hollywood icon through her role. The ruby slippers, altered from silver in the book to emphasize Technicolor, symbolise Dorothyโs journey and her famous line: โThereโs no place like home.โ Now a cultural treasure, they remain a testament to American cinematic heritage.
