OpenAI says its internet search function is now accessible to all users, including non-paid ones. Earlier available only in the paid version, this enhancement enables ChatGPT to provide live answers with references to external URLs. Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer, stated, “We’re bringing search to all logged-in free users of ChatGPT. This will be available globally on every platform where you use ChatGPT.”

The new search feature can be activated manually or enabled by default. This addresses a key limitation of AI chatbots like ChatGPT, which previously lacked real-time data access.
