Videos with sensational phrases like ‘Breaking News’ or ‘The President Steps Down’ that fail to deliver on their promises will now be removed.

โWe are intensifying our efforts to combat blatant clickbait on YouTube. This entails an increase in our enforcement against videos where the title or thumbnail promises viewers something the video fails to deliver. This is particularly vital for videos addressing topics like breaking news or current events, ensuring that viewers are not misled about the content they are watching on YouTube. We will begin to gradually implement this in India over the next few months,โ the company stated in itsย blog post.
The initiative will roll out gradually in India over the coming months. Creators will be given a grace period to adjust their content in line with YouTubeโs updated guidelines. While videos with clickbait titles will be removed, creatorsโ channels will not receive strikes during this adjustment period.
