Murree

Murree has been a source of joy, both for the tourists and locals because it finally received its first-ever snowfall of the season on Monday. The flakes transformed the scenic town, making it a winter wonderland overnight, as tourists thronged to experience the frosty attraction of the mountains.

Murree, which is now the centre of all winter activities, saw temperatures plunge to a minimum of -1°C and peaking at a chilly 8°C. Visitors flocked to the area to enjoy snow-covered landscapes, indulge in hot tea by roadside stalls, and capture memories against the stunning backdrop of white-draped hills.

Traffic Management in Full Swing

To deal with the influx of tourists, Murree’s City Traffic Police has devised a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth traffic flow during the snowfall season. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Mughees Ahmad Hashmi announced that 200 traffic wardens have been deployed to manage the influx of vehicles.

Proactive measures, in tandem with directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and top police officials, include operating the main roads such as View Fourth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road on a one-way system to reduce bottlenecks.

Several areas, namely around Habib Bank, GPO Chowk, Cecil Hotel and the bank road towards Girls Degree College, have been marked no-parking zones to further reduce congestion. In this manner, the tourists will be in a position to travel through this town safely and effectively.
