25th December, 2024, marks the 148th birthday of the great Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Tributes from across the country by residents, military personnel, and politicians were plentiful on this very important day. It was a chance to reflect on the inspirational leadership and long-lasting influence he had on the foundation of Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Tribute
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude towards Quaid-e-Azam and termed him as a leader of exceptional vision, courage, and determination. He emphasised that the virtues of justice, equality, and togetherness formed the bedrock of Jinnah’s leadership. He also reminded the nation of the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam for a Pakistan, where all citizens, Muslim or non-Muslim, should be able to lead an equal, free life of dignity.

The prime minister also greeted the Christian community in Pakistan on Christmas. He reiterated that Hazrat Isa (AS) taught everyone to love, be compassionate and peaceful. He said the government is committed to protecting the rights of all religious communities and hailed the role of the Christian community in health, education, and nation-building.
President Asif Ali Zardari’s Message
In the statement from President Asif Ali Zardari in his tribute to Quaid-e-Azam, he presented before the nation what was most crucial to achieving Jinnah’s vision: social justice, economic equity, and the rule of law. He appealed to the Pakistani nation to invest in education and work for bettering underdeveloped regions. While appealing for harmony within the country and across its borders, President Zardari called for reflection on Jinnah’s famous August 11, 1947 speech. In that speech, he envisioned a peaceful, moderate, and inclusive Pakistan, but that would not be possible without the people’s reaffirmation of their commitment to Jinnah’s principles to create a democratic and wealthy country.

The President and Prime Minister both stressed how crucial it is to uphold Jinnah’s values of equality, justice, and unity. These guiding principles are still essential in determining Pakistan’s future as it develops.
