National Stadium Karachi Renovation Enters Final Phase-karachi-gears-up-for-national-stadium-grand-opening

After the deadline was extended for the third time, Arshad Khan and Project Manager Mohammad Bilal Chohan assured that the reconstruction would be completed on time.

The first phase of the reconstruction was originally scheduled for completion by December 15. However, it was later extended to December 31 and then further postponed to January 25. It has now been confirmed that the entire upgrade work will be completed by January 31 in order to meet the deadline for hosting the upcoming mega event.

The reconstruction work for the five-story building is finished. The ground floor contains ICCโ€™s Anti-Corruption Unit, Anti-Doping Unit, physiotherapy rooms and match officials’ rooms. The renovation of the two dressing rooms on the second floor is in its final stage.

However, so far, the third and fourth floors are near completion, with 24 hospitality boxes that can assist 1,000 people. The fifth floor will highlight chairman boxes and an administration block, which will be completed on schedule.

The entire renovation of Rs3.5 billion is majorly focused on security. The stadium will host three matches for in Champions Trophy, as scheduled by the ICC.

It is pertinent to mention that the opening ceremony of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be held at the National Stadium on 19th February. This will be followed by the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand. The second match between Afghanistan and South Africa will be held on February 21 and the third match, between England and South Africa, is scheduled for March 1.
