The Federal Cabinet has approved the deployment of the military to provide security for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The decision was made under Article 245 of the Constitution, which allows the military to assist in security matters, Express News reported. Security arrangements will include a joint effort by civil armed forces, police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of teams and venues.

International teams will start arriving in Pakistan on February 12. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the provincial governments of Punjab and Sindh are working together on security plans. The Ministry of Interior has issued directives to different departments to maintain top-level security throughout the tournament.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium on Friday. This marks a new chapter in its 65-year history, just days before the ICC Menโ€™s Champions Trophy 2025. The event featured performances by Ali Zafar, Arif Lohar and Aima Baig, along with a drum performance and fireworks.

During his speech, PM Shehbaz praised the renovation team, including PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He jokingly said that “Shehbaz Speed” had been replaced by “Mohsin Speed.” The Prime Minister also congratulated Pakistanโ€™s cricket team for their recent performances. He expressed hope for their victory in the Champions Trophy, especially against India.
