The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new 10-year Blue Visa for those contributing to environmental sustainability. The new programme, unveiled during the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai, is a major milestone in the UAE’s efforts to combat climate change and promote innovation in sustainability.
Who Can Apply for the Blue Visa?
The Blue Visa is for individuals and entities making significant contributions to environmental conservation, including:
- Sustainability Leaders
- NGOs and Environmental Activists
- Corporate Leaders in Green Industries
- Researchers and Innovators in Climate Science
- Global Environmental Award Winners
Applicants can apply directly to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) or be nominated by UAE authorities.
How Does the Blue Visa Compare to Other UAE Residency Options?
The Blue Visa builds on the UAE’s current long-term residency schemes, including the Golden Visa (for investors and professionals) and the Green Visa (for freelancers and entrepreneurs). But it is the first visa specifically for environmental contributions, in line with the UAE’s sustainability agenda.
Can Pakistanis Apply for the Blue Visa?
Yes, Pakistanis who are eligible can apply. These include researchers, environmental activists and business professionals developing sustainability projects.
