The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman, Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, announced the prescribed rates for Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya for the current year on Thursday.
The minimum amount per person is set at Rs 220. However, based on different commodities, the rates vary: Wheat Rs 220, Barley Rs 450, Dates Rs 1,650, Raisins Rs 2,500 and Dried grapes (Munqqa) Rs 5,000.

Dr Naeemi emphasised that Sadqa-e-Fitr is obligatory for every Muslim, regardless of age or gender, if they have the means to pay. He also urged financially well-off individuals to give according to their means rather than opting for just the minimum amount.
Lastly, the residents of provinces outside Punjab must calculate their Sadqa-e-Fitr and Fidya based on local commodity prices.
