PTCL has officially connected Pakistan to the Africa-1 submarine cable, a big move to boost the countryโ€™s digital and telecom infrastructure. The cable is linked to PTCLโ€™s exchange in Karachi, promising faster and more reliable international internet access.

By joining the Africa-1 Cable System Consortium, PTCL is helping Pakistan connect to global digital hubs and strengthen its telecommunication network. The 10,000 km-long cable will link Pakistan to several important regions, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, France, Kenya and Djibouti.

Syed Muhammad Shoaib, PTCLโ€™s Group Vice President for International Business, emphasised how this project aligns with Digital Vision 2030. He highlighted PTCLโ€™s commitment to bridging the digital divide, fostering innovation, and supporting economic growth.

The Africa-1 cable system is set to go live by early 2026, delivering faster, more stable internet services for businesses and consumers across the country.
