If you use dating apps, Tinder Swinder might give you the creeps. This Netflix series shows how romance fraud is happening on a large scale across borders. The true scam docu-series is based on the story of Cecilie Fjellhoy, a Norwegian, who talks about how her Tinder-based boyfriend scammed her out of 200,000 pounds.

Cecilie first saw the guy on the dating app, after which she met him in person. They met for coffee where he told her that he was the CEO of a big diamond company. Following the meeting, whenever Cecilie met him, he created immersive theaters around her, ensuring her that everything she was experiencing was the truth. However, things quickly escalated and in the end, she ended up taking nine loans in just 54 days.

Inventing Anna

Inventing Anna is perhaps the most gripping show that you’ll ever watch. The show begins with a disclaimer: โ€œThis whole story is completely true. Except for all the parts that are totally made up.โ€ย The show is based on an alleged German heiress who was accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from banks, financial institutions and her friends between 2013 and 2017. Her story broke the New York Magazine in 2018 and people either loved her or hated her. One thing’s for sure, no one could ignore her.
