New Zealand’s Victory Knocks Pakistan Out of Champions Trophy

New Zealand’s successful chase of a 237-run target against Bangladesh, secured them a five-wicket win that resulted in the knockout of Pakistan from the Champions Trophy 2025. The chase started poorly, with Will Young and Kane Williamson falling early. But, Rachin Ravindra’s remarkable 112 and Tom Latham’s 55 led a crucial 129-run fourth-wicket stand, that helped them to build pressure against Bangladesh. Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell then finished the job.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Their bowlers put Bangladesh on the back foot early. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 77 off 110 balls held the innings together, but Michael Bracewell’s fielding and bowling dismantled Bangladesh. His brilliant spell of 4/26, backed by Will O’Rourke and Matt Henry, restricted Bangladesh to 236/9.
