After successful constitutional amendments, FIFA lifted the suspension on the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The decision, made on March 2, 2025, restores Pakistanโs right to participate in international football competitions.
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council decided to lift the suspension imposed on the PFF on February 6, 2025,” FIFA stated on Sunday. The suspension ended after the PFF Congress unanimously approved the FIFA- and AFC-validated constitution, meeting FIFAโs requirements.
Shahid Khokhar, a member of the PFF Normalisation Committee, confirmed this news. โThe suspension was lifted after the successful outcome of the PFF Extraordinary Congress on February 27. We thank FIFA and AFC for their support and congratulate the Pakistan football community,โ he said.

With full membership rights restored, Pakistan Football Federation teams can now compete internationally. The suspension had blocked Pakistan from entering the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, but with the ban lifted, the federation must quickly arrange for the upcoming match against Syria this month.
FIFA initially suspended Pakistan after Congress members rejected the proposed amendments, which aimed to ensure a fair election process. After reconsideration in a follow-up meeting on February 27, the amendments passed, clearing the way for reinstatement.
This decision marks a fresh start for Pakistan football, with players and fans hopeful for a stronger future on the international stage.
