Pakistan Awaits Moon Sighting to Confirm Eid ul-Fitr Holidays

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Sunday, March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29, 1446 AH), to see the Shawwal moon and announce the official date and holidays for Eid ul-Fitr in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) predicts the Shawwal moon will be visible on March 30. If confirmed, Eid ul-Fitr will fall on Monday, March 31. However, the final decision depends on eyewitness testimonies and the committeeโ€™s announcement.

If the moon is sighted on March 30, Ramadan will conclude in 29 days. In this case, the Eid holidays 2025 will span five days, from Saturday, March 29, to Wednesday, April 2. The official Eid holidays will be from March 31 to April 2, with the weekend adding extra days.

If Ramadan completes 30 days and Eid falls on Tuesday, April 1, the Eid holidays 2025 will begin on April 1 and end on Thursday, April 3.

With the weekend (March 29-30) and possible adjustments by provincial governments, the total holiday period could be extended to six days in some regions.

The government will confirm the official Eid holiday 2025 schedule after the moon sighting announcement on March 30.
