As of 2025, over 805 of its mobile cell sites operate on solar energy, with an additional 325 sites undergoing transition within the year. Furthermore, approximately 76% of its sites have shifted to high-efficiency lithium-ion batteries; offering enhanced energy performance and reduced reliance on conventional power sources. In 2024 alone, the telecom operator reported a reduction of 40,000 tons of CO₂ emissions per month, underlining a tangible commitment to environmentally conscious network expansion.
Data Centers with a Sustainable Edge
The company has also made strides in its data center operations, which form the backbone of its digital infrastructure. Zong recently secured Tier 3 Design and Facility Certification for its headquarters data center, an international benchmark for operational excellence, reliability, and resilience. In parallel, a new multi-story, energy-efficient data center is under development in Faisalabad.
