Pakistan’s Test series against Bangladesh has been anything but smooth sailing, and Ahmed Shehzad isn’t holding back his disappointment. In a recent video posted on his social media accounts, Shehzad expressed his frustration over Pakistan’s dismal batting performance, especially after a promising start in the second Test.
Bangladesh On Top
It’s not every day that Bangladesh’s cricket team dominates the headlines, but this series has been full of firsts—unfortunately, for Pakistan. Day 4 of the second Test saw Bangladesh pacers tearing through Pakistan’s batting lineup, leaving them in tatters at 117-6 by lunch.
The situation was dire, and while Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha showed some fight with their respective scores of 43 and 47, it wasn’t enough to salvage the innings. Pakistan ended up with a modest total of 172, setting Bangladesh a relatively easy target of 185 runs.
For Bangladesh, this series has been historic, and Ahmed Shehzad couldn’t help but point out that Pakistan seemed to be making it easy for them. “Pakistan has made another unwanted record against Bangladesh. It seems like the Bangladesh cricket team has come only to make records,” Shehzad remarked with a hint of exasperation.

Missed Opportunities For Pakistan
What’s most frustrating for Shehzad—and many Pakistan fans—is the way Pakistan allowed Bangladesh to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. At one point, the visitors were reeling at 26-6, thanks to some brilliant bowling by Khurram Shahzad and Mir Hamza.
However, what followed was a nightmare for the home side as Bangladesh’s lower order staged a remarkable comeback with a 150-run stand for the seventh wicket. “This has happened for the first time in history that a team had taken 6 wickets inside 30 runs and then sees a 150-run stand for the seventh wicket take the match away,” Shehzad lamented.
A Glimmer of Hope
While the result was disappointing, Shehzad was quick to praise the efforts of Pakistan’s young pacers, Khurram Shahzad and Mir Hamza. Both players, who have been toiling away in domestic cricket, finally got their chance to shine on the international stage—and they didn’t disappoint.
“These youngsters, who had been waiting for their chances for a long time, delivered for you. Khurram Shahzad bowled well today, hitting the weak areas of the Bangladesh batsmen, exposing their weak techniques,” Shehzad said, giving credit where it was due.

Ahmed Shehzad’s comments should serve as a wake-up call for Pakistan cricket. The team’s inconsistency and inability to capitalize on strong positions have been recurring issues. While the Khurram Shahzad and Mir Hamza offer hope for the future, the team as a whole needs to find a way to turn promising starts into match-winning performances.
