Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho has issued an ultimatum to clear ongoing protests before Maghrib prayer today, warning of legal action against those who refuse to disperse.
“The citizens of Karachi have endured enough over the past three days,” Odho stated during a high-level security meeting with Sindh officials. He confirmed protesters had agreed to end demonstrations that have paralysed Pakistan’s largest city.

The Majlis-e-Wahdatul-Muslimeen (MWM) protests have blocked major arteries including M.A. Jinnah Road and Numaish Chowrangi, causing severe traffic disruptions across more than dozen key locations.
Odho also reported improved security metrics, citing a 13 percent reduction in violent crime and a 30 percent decrease in mobile phone snatching during 2024. Ahead of New Year celebrations, he warned of zero tolerance for aerial firing, with violators facing attempted murder charges.
