The wait is finally over for fans of the Hera Pheri franchise! Akshay Kumar has officially confirmed a third instalment of the iconic comedy series. It is finally moving forward, with filming set to begin by late 2025.
In a recent interview, Akshay shared his excitement about returning to the much-loved series. “I am excited about Hera Pheri 3. If everything goes as planned, we would like to begin shooting by the end of this year. When we were working on the first Hera Pheri, none of us thought it would become a cult classic. When we saw it for the first time, we thought it was just a fun film, but its impact turned out to be legendary.”

The Legacy of Hera Pheri
The original Hera Pheri (2000), directed by Priyadarshan, is one of the most beloved comedies in Indian cinema. It was a success mainly because of the brilliant chemistry between Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty. The trio’s impeccable timing and hilarious antics made the movie a timeless favourite.

In 2006, the sequel Phir Hera Pheri continued the adventures of Raju, Baburao, and Shyam, further consolidating the franchise as a comedy classic. Year by year, fans have waited for a third part of the film aswell, eager to relive some magic.
What to Expect from Hera Pheri 3
The long-awaited movie will revert the lead trio into its original setting. Akshay Kumar plays Raju again, while Paresh Rawal returns as the wacky Baburao Ganpatrao Apte and Suniel Shetty as the practical Shyam. Indeed, the Hera Pheri 3 scripting is complete while the production details are in complete motion.
So much so, that Akshay Kumar looked ecstatic about romancing his actresses, especially as Paresh Rawal. “Paresh naturally makes you smile. Even on other shoots, lots of laughter is exchanged. Overall, our time together on sets has always been extra special.”

Akshay Kumar is also geared up for Sky Force, a film with Veer Pahariya, Nimrat Kaur, and Sara Ali Khan. It’s scheduled to be released on January 24, 2025.
